John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched many people through his music. A lot of them have roots in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other part of the globe, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first thing they say is Oh John Denver! Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits following a performance with a smaller folk groups. It was co-written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. The track was released just a few weeks after that Washington D.C. performance.
